FAQs
In Arlington, Texas, about 1.5 miles south of Interstate 20 on the east side of Highway 287. Here’s a map.
Is seating reserved or general admission?
Both. The majority of the seating for this event is reserved, so please get your tickets and reserve your seats early to get the best view. General admission seating available on the sides and toward the rear of the auditorium.
How are the seats laid out?
See the general seating chart here. When you go to buy your tickets, you can select from several price levels – but be sure to click “Let Me Select My Seats” at the bottom. On the next screen, you can pick from the available seats at the selected price level. If you want to move closer or farther back, just go “back” with your browser and select a different price level and go from there.
Can kids come too?
We always encourage young people to come and enjoy the music. Kids 15 and under will be admitted free for GENERAL ADMISSION seating with their parent or guardian. All reserved seats are reserved for the ticket holder, so if you have reserved seats and want your kids to sit with you, they need reserved seat tickets as well. But your kids are welcome to sit with you for free in the general admission seating.
Can we jam?
Absolutely! Jamming is a big part of the fun! If the weather is good, there are plenty of great shady places to jam outside, and we have the entire Activities Building at South Oaks for jamming during the event. The Activities Building has a large central gym area and several nice separate rooms with chairs around the perimeter of the gym area.
Is there a hotel room discount?
Yes. We’ve negotiated a discounted rate of $82.99/night (plus tax) at the La Quinta Inn & Suites Forest Hill (Fort Worth), which is only six miles from South Oaks, and the hotel is giving us a LATE-NIGHT JAM ROOM! For the discounted rate, call the hotel at 817-293-5800 by April 10 and ask for the Lone Star Fest rate. This rate is not available online – you must call and request the discounted rate.
Where can we eat?
A Sonic and a McDonalds are located close to the rear of the church property, about 1000 feet from the auditorium. These two options are walkable without crossing any major streets. A Denny’s, Jack In The Box, Burger King, and Chicken Express are also available and walkable, 1500-2000 feet from the auditorium, just across Sublett Road to the south.
About 1.5 miles north of the church property, around the intersection of Highway 287, Interstate 20, and Little Road, you will find a Chili’s, Whataburger, Panda Express, Colter’s BBQ, Chick-Fil-A, Wendy’s, Subway, IHOP, Waffle House, Taco Bell, Taco Bueno, Cheddars, and other options. A Walmart and lots of other retail is located around that intersection.
Will there be a place to leave my instruments while I watch the show?
Yes. We will have a free instrument check room available just off the lobby during the festival.
Is there something other than the Festival for my family to enjoy?
Absolutely! If you have family members who want to do something other than bluegrass, let them enjoy one of the other area attractions. There’s plenty within easy driving distance of Lone Star Fest. Grapevine Mills Mall and Parks Mall are great spots for shopping. Attractions like Six Flags Over Texas, Hurricane Harbor Water Park, the Amon Carter Museum, the Modern Museum of Fort Worth, the Kimbell Art Museum, the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, the Stockyards Museum, and the Vintage Flying Museum are within easy driving distance. Sports fans will be pleased to know that the Texas Rangers ballpark and the Dallas Cowboys stadium are about 16 miles northeast of South Oaks.
Can I bring my RV?
There is room for a few RVs along the back edge of the South Oaks parking lot, but we ask that you not arrive with an RV before noon on Friday, and because of church and Sunday School services on Sunday morning, you MUST be gone by 7:00 a.m. Sunday morning. This is only a parking lot – there are no hookups, trash, or dump facilities of any kind at South Oaks. If you would like to attend Lone Star Fest and have connections for your motor home, check out Texan RV Ranch at 1961 Lone Star Road, Mansfield, Texas 76063 (866-348-3978) which is approximately 10 miles south of the South Oaks property just off Highway 287.
Can I come and go at the Festival?
Of course. When you arrive at South Oaks, check in and get your wristband. The wristband will be your pass to get into the South Oaks Worship Center where Lone Star Fest is going on. Parking is free, so come and go as you like.
What’s the policy on seating?
Reserved seats are reserved for the reserved seat ticket holders at all times. General admission seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. General admission seats that are not occupied for 15 minutes or longer become “available seats” and may be occupied by anyone with an admission wristband. An admission wristband is required for all seats. BHF is not responsible for lost or stolen wristbands or tickets. Please keep your wristband or ticket stub on your person at all times. Your wristband should be visible to BHF staff or presented to BHF staff upon request. Any personal belongings left in seats more than 15 minutes may be removed by BHF staff or other patrons. BHF is not responsible for lost or stolen personal belongings, including musical instruments.
Anything that I can’t bring?
Yes – please don’t bring any alcohol, tobacco, drugs, or pets onto the South Oaks property. No smoking is allowed in any South Oaks building. South Oaks has most graciously allowed us to use their facilities. In return, we encourage all Festival patrons to treat the South Oaks staff and facilities with the highest level of courtesy and respect. [/columns]
